Mona McSharry placed 11th overall in the women’s 50m breaststroke at the World Aquatics Championships on Saturday.
McSharry was outside her own Irish record when finishing sixth in her semi-final.
The 22-year-old touched the wall in 30.54 seconds, a little shy of her 30.29-second Irish best. She had finished her heat in seventh spot, going 30.45 seconds.
It has been a fine week for the Marlins Swimming Club graduate having finished fifth in the 100m breaststroke - and booking a spot at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in the process.
McSharry was just 0.13 of a second from a 100m breaststroke medal in Fukuoka on Tuesday, finishing fifth in 1:06.07.
On Monday, McSharry confirmed her place at the Olympics with a massive new Irish record.
McSharry dipped under 1:06 for the first time, winning her heat in 1:05.55 before finishing in 1:05.96 in her semi-final.
On Thursday, McSharry bowed out of the 200m breaststroke competition. The Grange woman was firmly in the mix when fifth at 150m, but a 2:26.27 finish wasn’t enough for qualification.
McSharry had finished her 200m heat in 2:26.59 and closed the event 15th.
