Ballyshannon swimmer Cora Rooney is in Lanzarote with the Swim Ireland National Centre (Limerick) squad.
The swimmers are on a warm weather camp at the Barcelo Active Resort.
Last January, Rooney was the recipient of the swimming award at the Donegal Sports Star Awards having competed in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships in 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia.
A former student at Colaiste Cholmcille in Ballyshannon, she is now a scholarship student at University of Limerick.
Rooney swims for the Enniskillen Lakelanders and is coached by her mother, Sinead Donagher, at the Finn Valley Leisure Centre.
Swim Ireland’s Performance Programme operates three National Centres: one each at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin, University of Limerick and the Bangor Aurora Leisure Centre.

The three National Centres provide performance support for identified athletes across Ireland. Each continue to grow from their current Centre-based coaching group programme to an all-encompassing approach.
