The Flanagan sisters led the charge for Finn Valley AC in Armagh
Led by the Flanagan twins, Roisin and Eilish, Finn Valley AC won the women’s team title over 3k at the Armagh International Road Race.
On Thursday night, Finn Valley AC inched out Dundrum South Dublin for the 3k honours.
Roisin Flanagan led the way in seventh, clocking nine minutes and 19 seconds.
She was followed by her twin sister Eilish, who finished 20th in 9:35 while Amy Greene was 37th, going 9:56. Joanne Campbell, who crossed the line in 11:42, backed up the Finn Valley AC scoring trio.
In the men’s 3k, Tir Chonaill AC finished as the sixth team with Shaun Kerrs, Martin Cunningham, Donal Murrin and Declan Gallagher all going under starter’s orders.
Danny Mooney of Letterkenny AC clocked 14:38 in the men’s 5k while LAC had John McCallion, Mark McPaul, Philip McHugh and Brian McBride all in action in the 3k while Elsa Moore of Lifford-Strabane AC and Ciara Cunningham from Tir Chonaill AC ran in the women’s 3k.
There was success, too, for Donegal athletes at the UUJ Sprints and Hurdles event on Saturday.
Letterkenny AC’s Erin Friel has started 2025 with real purpose and a new personal best of 7.75 seconds gave her victory in the U18 60m. Her club-mate Katie Elliott was second in 8.33 seconds.

Finn Valley AC’s Amy Timoney was the U19 winner over 60m in 7.84 seconds while LAC’s Harry McIlwaine stopped the clock at 7.18 seconds for a win in the U17 60m.
Cabrini Pyne of Lifford-Strabane AC finished fourth in the U16 60m hurdles and Danny McKinley of Letterkenny AC was fifth in the U19 60m.
On Sunday, Finn Valley AC’s Arlene Crossan recorded a season’s best 55.07 seconds to win gold in an indoor 400m as part of the Connacht Indoor Championships at the TUS Arena in Athlone.
