Carndonagh boxer Cunningham loses out in Irish final

New Ulster champions to head the bill at Carndonagh boxing tournament

Carndonagh boxer Kieran Cunningham suffered defeat in an Irish final on Sunday.

Cunningham was beaten in the Boy 4 66kgs decider at The National Stadium.

The Inishowen puncher found Archie Richie from All Saints a tough customer. Richie took a unanimous decision.

Cunningham had defeated Edward Sweeney of Claremorris in his semi-final, taking a clean sweep of the cards.

His Carndonagh colleague Darragh Porter bowed out at the quarter-final phase on Friday night.

In a Boy 4 clash at 52kgs, Porter lost out to Louis Griffin from Kilfenora. The referee stopped the bout in the second round, giving Griffin the win.

On Wednesday, March 16, at the Ozanam Centre, Dunfanaghy Boxing Club host a bumper tournament with action underway at 8pm.
