Global digital infrastructure company submits application to Donegal County Council for 8,000 square metre facility in Letterkenny

A global digital infrastructure company and Donegal employer has sought planning permission from Donegal County Council for the construction of a new production facility in Letterkenny.

Vertiv Ltd has submitted the planning application for the proposed 8,485 square metre production facility to be located adjacent to the existing Vertiv building in Lisnennan. Letterkenny.

The proposal includes the provision of additional car parking and alterations to the existing car parking facilities, the provision of bicycle parking throughout the proposed development, and pedestrian footpaths and public lighting provisions.

Vertiv Ltd is a leading data and digital infrastructure company that describes itself as a “global leader in critical digital infrastructure for applications in data centres, communication networks, and commercial and industrial environments.”

The company is based in Ohio, USA, and currently employs over 30,000 employees worldwide, with facilities in over 40 countries, and has a significant presence in Donegal, with facilities in Burnfoot along with its Letterkenny facility.

In August, the company announced plans to create 300 jobs in the northwest of Ireland.

Supporting documents written by William Donoghue & Associates, Architects and Engineers, on behalf of the applicant, stated: “The proposed development will extend Vertiv’s existing Letterkenny production campus through the provision of a purpose-designed industrial building with associated offices and staff facilities.

“The architectural proposal adopts a straightforward, functional building form and a consistent material treatment appropriate to the site and the nature of the operation.

“The layout has been developed with regard to production requirements, servicing and access, parking, pedestrian movement and the integration of new construction with the existing site.”

Donegal County Council has yet to announce a decision due date for the submitted planning application.
