In Pictures: Swimmers and dippers brave the cold in Mountcharles in aid of RNLI

This annual event is a ritual for many participants as they gather together to get the new year off to a fresh start

The annual New Year's Day swim in Mountcharles was very well supported, with dozens of dippers joined by supporters on the pier. Click on the arrows to see Thomas Gallagher's photos of the event:

As always, the event was a fundraiser for the RNLI and the Bundoran crew were on hand in the water and on the pier.

The crew at Salthill Cabin were extremely busy making hot chocolate, tea and coffee for the swimmers and their supporters after the event, adding to the celebratory atmosphere at this increasingly popular new year event.
