Falcarragh based poet to launch latest collection this week
Falcarragh based poet, Aidan Hayes (pictured), will launch his latest collection of poems, called “Occupational Hazard” in Letterkenny this week.

Falcarragh based poet, Aidan Hayes (pictured), will launch his latest collection of poems, called “Occupational Hazard” in Letterkenny this week.

It takes place in Letterkenny Library this Thursday, May 23, at 8pm.

Aidan is originally a Cork man who has worked as a teacher for 30 years before he came to Donegal.

This is his fourth book to be released since 2001.

His other works include a book of French singer-poets translations called - Richesses. This was followed by “Two Halves” and “Notes towards a love song”. His latest work ”Occupational Hazard” published by Lapwing Press in Belfast.

Aidan has been working full-time on his poetry since he left his prison teaching job in 2001 and began a year long course at the “Poets House” in Falcarragh and remained in the area since with “no plans to leave”.

He says everyone is welcome to come along to the event which will be officially launched by Brian Smeaton
