A very impressive convoy of Mazda MX-5 sports cars drove into Donegal Town this morning, part of a weekend-long visit to Donegal.
Forty members of the MX-5 Owners club, and around 25 cars, are on a five-day tour of Ireland.
They arrived in Dublin yesterday and stayed in Sligo last night. This morning, they were treated to sandwiches, home-baked cakes and biscuits, and tea and coffee and enjoyed it all in brilliant sunshine.
Paul McKay, head of the group, says it’s their first visit to Donegal and they’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of it, including the pubs, over the weekend. Don’t worry, he added, a mini-bus has been laid on to ensure that cars are left behind on those particular excursions.
Brendan Bonner, who has strong family connections in Mullaghduff and who currently lives in Manchester, is the man who persuaded the group to visit the county he loves so much.
