Carndonagh score impressive victory at Letterkenny Gaels

Doherty and O'Donnell hit seven points each for Inishowen men

Action from Saturday night's game at The Glebe where Carndonagh got the better of Letterkenny Gaels.

In a high-scoring encounter, Carndonagh got the better of Letterkenny Gaels in their Division Four meeting at Pairc na nGael on Saturday evening.

 It was the visitors who opened brightly with scores from Conor O’Donnell (2) and one from full forward Fergal Doherty.

opened their account on the 5th minute with a well worked goal from Conor McBrearty. However, the visitors continued to hit some fine scores with Doherty (3) Padraig Doherty (2) Conor O'Donnell and Ryan Kelly all scoring, while Gaels stayed in contention with points from McBrearty (2) and Shay Doherty(2) to leave the scores Carndonagh 0-10 Gaels 1-4 at the break.
The home team levelled matters with a goal in the early seconds of the second half with a long ball in which was won by Mc Brearty who passed to the inrushing Shay Doherty who dispatched to the net.

The visitors restored their advantage with points from O’Donnell (2) and Fergal Doherty. Gaels again levelled it up with replies from McBrearty (2) and Shay Doherty.

Carn's response was a goal from James Monagle which deceived the home keeper John Doran. The hosts again responded with two more points from the boot of McBrearty but it was the Inishowen men who finished strongly with points from F Doherty (2) C O’Donnell (2) and P Doherty to give them a six point cushion.

Gaels came in search of goals but could only manage two further points in injury time to send the Carn men home with two deserved points.
