Ramelton Town Hall was packed to capacity on Saturday as the town welcomed home Nobel Prize recipient Professor Bill Campbell.
The town hosted a tribute night for Professor Campbell which was hosted by media commentator Prof Roy Greenslade.
Music was provided by the West Ocean String Quartet.
Last year Professor Campbell, who lives in the US, was jointly awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work in discovering a novel therapy against infections caused by roundworms. He received the award along with Satoshi Ōmura, a Japanese microbiologist.
Professor Campbell is only the second Irish person to win a Nobel prize for science, following in the footsteps of Ernest Walton, who collected the physics award in 1951.
A county council hosted civic reception will be held in Lifford on Monday evening.
