Slideshow: Cara Bundoran Challenge 2017 launched

Aims to top €100k as their cumulative contribution to charity

At the launch of the Cara Bundoran Challenge 2017 the main sponsor of the three day event, Canice Nicholas said that their aim was to top €100k as their cumulative contribution to charity.
If one is to aim high then no better place to do it than in the premises that once housed the old Allied Irish Bank on Bundoran's Main Street.
The Bank was recently acquired by the Bundoran Community Group with the help of ringfenced funds from the Bundoran Town Council and members of the group are working around the clock to completely refurbish it.
Breege Ward said, “This is a tremendous asset to the whole community and will offer a wide range of services to the community.
“We are delighted to have Cara here tonight as our first official customer .”
Launching the Bundoran Challenge Canice Nicholas said:
“Little did we think 7 years ago that we would arrive at the stage that we would expect to cross that €100 mark when it comes to monies raised .
“In terms of numbers we started off with a few hundred and last year 2,500 took part. In the period we have had two Olympians Breege Connolly and Catriona Jennings taking part and the event is now regarded as a springboard for other events.
