A New Year saw the start of the Winter League at Deanes Equestrian Centre last Sunday the 4th of January and the riders eagerly took on the flowing course after their Christmas break.
The starter stakes had new rider Dean Burgess on his trusty steed Yankee take on the starter stakes course with the help of his leader. Sara Molloy also on Yankee rode the course with help from her coach. Both riders jumped clear much to the delight of their mums.
Zoe Boyle on Dancer had the 40cm class all to herself and she jumped a great round to settle her nerves
In the 50cm class Zoe Boyle was back in action but this time picked up an unlucky 4 faults on her second last fence. Ally McClay on Meenarillagh picked up a lovely double clear.
In the 60cm class Zoe Boyle was again clear with a lovely round of jumps. Ally McClay’s round didn’t go according to plan but she persevered to get to the finish. Hannah Marie Slater took Tilly around the course, jumped a lovely round and picked up a clear round rosette. Mona Vial on Roddy was back in action after her winter break and picked up another clear round rosette to add to her collection.
The 70cm class had several riders going clear. First into the arena was Marie Molloy riding Cojo and they set a good pace and went clear. Zoe Boyle on Dancer rounded off a great days jumping by picking up yet another clear round rosette. Cyndi Graham on Dougal also jumped a lovely clear round but had to work hard for it. Mona Vial was back into the arena and added another clear round rosette to her collection.
The 80cm class had Mona Vial on Roddy jumping yet another clear round to end the day with 3 clear round rosettes. Charlie Vial rode a great round on Nacho to take home a clear round rosette. Aine and Patrick Hunter both jumped good rounds to keep the honours even in the Hunter household. Lucy Stewart was once again in the rosettes.
The 90cm class had only one clear round and that went to Patrick Hunter on Eurolady with a superb round of jumps.
The Winter League continues next Sunday the 11th of January and runs for 7 more Sundays. The same horse and rider combination must compete in 4 of the next 7 Sundays in order to be eligible for prizes on the Final Day. Thanks to our judges and arena helpers to help the show run smoothly.
